Refined Knowledge of Art, Grounded in Financial Services
President and founder of Cheney Appraisal Services, Linda Cheney most recently completed an appraisal of the Salmagundi Club’s permanent collection of 900 works of American art. This followed a one-year cataloguing project where a customized relational database was developed so object information could be accessed easily by title, artist, medium, location, etc. Over the years she has appraised personal property: general household contents such as fine art (paintings, prints and sculpture), furniture, silver, porcelain, Oriental carpets, antiques and other collectibles.

Ms. Cheney completed her Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from New York University. She continues to take appraisal course work at NYU and the Appraisers Association of America to enhance her connoisseurship of fine and decorative art and to keep abreast of all IRS regulations and industry standards; successfully completed a
15-hour course and examination on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
Experienced in banking
Ms. Cheney brings business acumen to the appraisal practice developed in a twenty-year career in sales and marketing within the financial services industry. Ms. Cheney knows the importance of managing and reporting assets prudently with integrity and attention to details. She holds a BA in Economics and Fine Art from Bucknell University, specializing in printmaking, and an MBA in Marketing from Pace University. Ms. Cheney is a member of the Appraisers Association of America and the American Associations of Museums.
